Zagreb is a city where life slows down just enough for you to savor the moment, yet it’s alive with energy and endless opportunities. Unlike Croatia’s coastal regions, Zagreb is much more wheelchair accessible, making it perfect for exploration. Here’s what you can expect: First, it is an absolute must to visit the Ban Jelačić Square. It is actually a good point to start exploring the city. You can feel the life on the square, and you can either just enjoy the views, or join people discovering the streets that go up from the square. You will find a lot of shops, cafes and restaurants near the Ban Jelačić Square, but make sure that you continue your exploration to the next points also. I would suggest you visit Zrinjevac Park, which is one of the most romantic locations in Zagreb. Find the fountains, flowers and if you are lucky (or visiting during the evening hours), the Music Pavilion should offer you some entertainment. I have been there a few times and had the opportunity to listen to a local Croatian band twice. I really hope that you will also have the opportunity to experience these memorable moments. 

Next on your list should be The Cathedral of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is the largest Croatian sacral building and no matter if you read this in the moment I am writing it or a few years later… they will probably still be renovating the Cathedral. The scaffolding has almost become part of the building! Embrace it with a smile—it’s worth a visit for its rich history and stunning architecture.

As you spend in Zagreb more than just one day, you will have enough time to also visit the Dolac Market and get familiar with the “culinary scene” of Zagreb or take a ride on the Funicular, which is the shortest cable railway in the world intended for public transport – it is only 66 meters long, which is perfect even for people who have extreme height-fear (this is me, I admit). But the experience is worth it, and it takes only a few seconds.

After the vibrant pace of Zagreb, Međimurje offers a serene escape. 

Known for its rolling hills and vineyards, this region is perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature.

In case you feel as if you already relaxed too much, we can organize you some of the trips to the cities around Međimurje. I can recommend you to visit the Riznica Međimurja or Treasury of Međimurje in Čakovec, which is completely wheelchair accessible. I am not a big fan of museums that are usually the ones they force you to go to when you are still in school.. But this one, I can visit this museum every few months and I don’t get bored of it.
