Let me introduce you to my ideal way of traveling: a road trip combined with island hopping through the southern Dalmatian coast!
There’s something magical about moving to a new destination every few days, exploring the best each place has to offer. This package is not really for those who just want to lay in the sun and relax (for that I would love to recommend some of the other packages – just text me ). This package is for adventurous souls who want to discover as much as possible and experience the diversity of Croatia, all without group tours. As always, this is a self-guided, personalized journey—at your own pace and with the freedom to explore your way.
What awaits you?
Dubrovnik: Mystic and majestic
Dubrovnik might not be the first city that comes to mind when thinking of wheelchair accessibility, but it’s full of surprises. While not every street may be accessible (cobblestones are for sure charming, but also can be a bit of trouble), I’ve explored enough to create a plan for a great experience for you.
Known for its stunning city walls and its starring role in Game of Thrones (we all know the era will still be going on for some time), Dubrovnik offers plenty to see and do. As always, I suggest you take a deep dive into exploring the Old Town and its Promenade. There are pretty awesome accessible parts of the Old town and also, there are pretty awesome ways to see the old town from above! Take a ride in the Cable car to Mount Srđ and enjoy the panoramic views of the city and sea.
Next stop: the enchanting island of Korčula.
Korčula: The Island of Romance
This small town has a big heart. It’s a place where music and art fill the summer air, where narrow streets invite you to get a bit lost, and where time slows down to the rhythm of the Adriatic waves (or singing of Klape, if you are lucky enough).
You will love the Old town of Korčula, it is small yet full of charm. Korčula holds a special place in my heart as the most romantic island I’ve ever seen. I remember it from the first time I visited. I saw a girl and boy doing a really good street performance – she was a great singer and he was playing the guitar, also staring at her, amazed by her voice just as the rest of us. They didn’t mind the people walking by, but people could not just pass them without stopping to enjoy their art. These are the moments that you will forever hold in your heart after coming home from destinations like this.
I know all of this already sounds as if it can’t get any better… But it can!
Hvar: Sun, Sea & Charm
Once you arrive at the port of Hvar Town, you’re already in the center of the action. The island, famous for its sunny weather and lively vibe, offers an excellent balance of relaxation and sightseeing.
- Trg Sv. Stjepana: Visit one of the largest old squares in Dalmatia, surrounded by accessible restaurants and cafés by the sea.
- Wheelchair-Accessible Beach: Just 800m from the square, this beach features a ramp and handrail, perfect for cooling off on a warm day.
Promenade Walks: Stroll along the picturesque waterfront, stopping for a coffee or cocktail as the sun sets.
Split: The Grand Finale
Your journey concludes in Split, where modern Mediterranean life blends seamlessly with ancient Roman history.
- Diocletian’s Palace: Explore the accessible parts of this UNESCO-listed wonder, including the ancient cellars and cobblestone streets. Let yourself wander and get pleasantly lost—it’s the best way to discover hidden gems.
- The Riva Promenade: Perfect for an evening stroll or a morning coffee with a view of the sea.
- The Green Market: A sensory delight, with vibrant produce, fragrant flowers, and friendly locals offering fresh strawberries or figs to sample.
Of course, no visit to Split is complete without enjoying its beaches. We’ve included the best barrier-free beaches in your itinerary, along with some quieter, more secluded spots in nature where you can soak up the sun in peace.
